Cleansing Crystals can be done in various ways, here are some:
Sound
Place your crystal in a Tibetan Singing Bowl and cleanse your crystal with the vibrations of the sound of the Singing Bowl. Three minutes should be enough to cleanse your crystal, however with practice you will know how long is enough as the crystal will show you.
Smudging
Smudge your crystal with a White Sage smudge stick. The smoke from the smudge stick will cleanse the crystal as you smudge it on all sides. Use your intention while smudging the stone.
Note: Christians ask whether it is ok to use smudge sticks at all. I’ll share how I use smudge sticks, herbs crystals and so on. Everything in existence has energy, and we can use that energy to our benefit when we understand how it works. If we use herbs – with their high frequency – to cleanse our crystals, we need to understand that herbs can be used in two ways. One way is to use herbs as an extension of the Creator, and one way is to use herbs as separate from the Creator. Anything separate from the Creator, can be used as an entity on its own and therefore becomes dangerous. Ask yourself before you do any spiritual work, how you are viewing your crystals, salt, herbs, incense, candles, water, or any other natural aid used in your healing sessions or private spiritual work. If you have been viewing your spiritual aids as separate entities, then you are inviting trouble so try to think differently about it.
Water
It is never a good idea to leave any crystal in water for a long time as some crystals are water soluble and will start to dissolve or loose their shine when left in water. It is generally not a good idea to immerse any stone ending with ‘ite’ in water. For example: Selenite, Howlite, Apophyllite, Hemimorphite, Hematite, Kunzite, Lepidolite, Magnesite and so on. These stones are very soft and will dissolve if you leave them in salt water (or water).
This is why whenever you cleanse a stone with water you place it under a running tap for a few seconds while using your intention to cleanse the stone. If it is a small stone, put the stone in an old stocking or a small pocket and hold it under the tap while inside the pocket so that it can not go down the drain should you drop it. If you live by the ocean, you are very lucky because as we all know, salt water is amazing for cleansing stones. You can also take your stones to a river or stream and rinse it in the running water.
Earth
From time to time your stones will appear tired and lack-luster, especially after they have worked hard over a long period of time. When this happens it is a good idea to bury them in the soil for a while. If only minor cleansing is needed, you can place it on top of the soil for a day or so. Mark your spot when you bury your crystals or remember where you place them when you are just lying it on top of the soil.
Salt
Coarse sea salt is quite hard on stones, but a good way to cleanse them as the salt will undoubtedly absorb all the ‘stuff’ the stone accumulated. It is advisable to leave your crystal in sea salt for about 4 hours but no longer as it is very harsh on the stone. Think of how you feel after taking a salt bath – you are tired and sleepy! So always remember to charge a crystal after you had it in the salt.
Brown Rice or Pine needles
These are good, natural ways to cleanse your crystals. Just don’t eat the Rice after! You can leave the stones over night if you like as the rice and needles are natural ways of cleansing. You can use the rice multiple times before you discard of it.
